I like wearing... my new found favorite tank, the "TAMI" from Old Navy. This is the perfect tank for wearing around the house with running shorts, but it's also a great long, thin tank for layering under clothes. It's called the tami because it fits like a tank but the straps are a little thinner, so it's a cross between a tank and a camisole. How did I not know about this sooner? You can buy a three pack of neutral colors for a discount, and sometimes you can find them on sale for $4 in stores!
My most memorable style was... okay, here we go. When I was in middle school skater style was totally in. There were actually fights at my school between "skaters" and "preps." Being a blond haired, middle class, Christian girl in honors classes I was totally a prep, but I wanted to be a skater. The number one status symbol of being a true skater was if you wore the right jeans. I'm talking about the baggy JNCOs where the back pockets were extended down to the backs of the knees. If you are about 30 years old you probably know what I am talking about it and if you are too young or a bit older this probably sounds ridiculous to you, and believe me, it was {here is a Wikipedia article and a Buzzfeed to enlighten you}. Well, there was no way my mom would ever let me buy JNCOs or any baggy jeans for that matter, so I had to improvise. My best friend and I began wearing our dad's jeans to school. I kid you not. We would slip our tiny little barely-pubescent bodies into our dads' 32x32 Levis. But it gets better. Because they would drag on the ground and we didn't want to ruin our fathers' clothes, we would staple the hems around the ankles and walk around school. The result? Some weird preppy girls looking all sorts of awkward.
I dress to impress when... I teach. I hate how casual the teaching profession has gotten, especially at the high school and college level. I don't want to see your jeans, cargo shorts, or workout clothes at the front of the classroom. I always dress in a way that shows I respect my job, my students, and myself.
The best style tip I ever received... My mom always taught me that the secret to wearing make-up is to make it look like you aren't wearing any at all. To this day, my beauty routine is super low maintenance and my look is very natural.
Three wardrobe staples in my closet... good skinny jeans / cotton dresses / a versatile tank
Three words that describe my style... there are only two words. Granny chic.
