The Secret to Motherhood?
Hatch Chile Queso? Yes. I am making this over the weekend while Micah is out of town and I am going to eat ALL of it myself.
As one of the "Jennifers" she scolds in this post, I have to say I mostly disagree with her. I think I'm in the "name your kid whatever you want" camp. It's the privilege of being a parent.
Controversial baby reads... Link between induction and autism? Should parents who choose not to vaccinate be punished? While I am mostly for vaccinations {within reason... I've NEVER had a flu shot and I've only had the flu once in the past 20 years}, I find this sentence REALLY problematic... "The bottom line is that the government’s interest in protecting children from getting the measles should trump parents’ interest in making medical decisions for their kids." I would prefer not to be "trumped" by anyone when making decisions about and for my children, thank you very much.

You are treading controversial waters with this post, and I love it!! ;) Although, how we parent our own kids shouldn't be controversial, but we all know people can't help but care too much about what other people do and make that all too known.
My jaw literally dropped at that line in the article!!! I thought, did they seriously just say the government should trump a parent's right to make parenting decisions?! Ha! I also take issue with the article's take that vaccines (The MMR in particular) are 100% safe. That's simply untrue and to say so is ignorance. Every parent must weigh the benefit of receiving the vaccine against any and all risks. And there are risks. "The Vaccine Book" is super helpful I think!
Also, to prosecute parents is a waaaaay slippery slope. This article lit a fire under me I guess! Haha! Lots to think about...
Thanks for sharing the Secret to Motherhood? So true! Although I'm more likely to ask a friend than Google it. Thankfully, I'm not hooked on looking things up online...there are too many bad stories out there, ya know?
And I'm a little nervous to read the autism/vaccine stuff...I'm not against vaccines either.
